The farm

Roots deep enough to name a road after.

When the road you farm on carries your family's name, it says something about how long you've been at it. Criswell Farms is part of the fabric of rural Wayne County — rolling fields and farmsteads between Fredericksburg and the heart of Ohio's Amish Country.

This is a working grain farm: corn, beans, and wheat through the rotation, with straw and alfalfa put up every summer. And the barns stay busy too — Black Angus cattle, crossbred hogs, and purebred Spot and Berkshire hogs are raised right here on the home place.

Wondering what's available right now — beef, pork, straw, or hay? The surest answer is a phone call away.

What we raise

Out of the fields, out of the barns.

A true mixed farm — the grain side and the livestock side feed each other, the way farms around here have always worked.

We also offer a wide variety of crossbred, Berkshire, and Spot show pigs — if you're looking for a project pig, come pick yours out at the barn.

Through the seasons

The year, as a farm lives it.

Every season has its own work, its own worries, and its own rewards. Here's the rhythm the farm keeps, year in and year out.

Planting

Ground works up, seed goes in, and the whole year rides on the weeks that follow. Spring is equal parts patience and hustle.

Growing

Long days of tending, fixing, and watching the sky. The fields do their quiet work while we do ours.

Harvest

The payoff season — long hours, full wagons, and the satisfaction of a year's work brought home before the snow flies.

How we do business

A handshake still means something out here.

Farming in this corner of Ohio runs on relationships — with the neighbors who lend a hand at harvest, the families down the road, and the folks who call to ask what we've got. We aim to deal with everyone the same way: fairly, plainly, and like we'll be seeing each other again. Because around here, we will.

If you're looking for something from the farm, have a question about the land, or just want to talk farming — pick up the phone. You'll get a straight answer.
